We are a CONNECTOR, CONVENOR, and FACILITATOR of collective impact initiatives in the Whitehaven community of Memphis.
A Better Whitehaven with sustainable economic, educational, civic, and social development creating a thriving community in which to live, work, and play.
To provide backbone support for our member organizations and other important stakeholders with the shared goal of increasing collective impact to improve the quality of life in Whitehaven.
There are many organizations, institutions, and community leaders that passionately serve Whitehaven’s children and families and are deeply committed to addressing the challenges we face in Whitehaven. We believe they are worth investing in.
Unfortunately, due to the size, complexity,and need for resources in Whitehaven, efforts by these leaders and organizations are often uncoordinated, disjointed, and small in scale.
ABW’s Better Together strategy focuses the efforts and resources of our member organizations on improving 4 quality of life indicators by the year 2030:
Increase the percentage of 3rd grade students exceeding state reading and math standards in Whitehaven.
Increase the number of families living above the federal poverty line in Whitehaven.
Aims to deal with the high rates of interpersonal, institutional, and structural violence our residents face.
