Our Collective Impact Goal: 

All Generations Participate In Repairing Harm In The Community

In addition to high rates of interpersonal violence, community members are also impacted by structural and institutional violence of racist and classist institutions and policies. By helping restore the relationships and assets that violence destroys, Whitehaven residents can begin to address the issue of violence.

Restorative Practice

A Better Whitehaven’s Restorative Practice Initiative, Whitehaven Restored, aims to deal with the high rates of interpersonal, institutional, and structural violence our residents face. The emphasis of the Restorative Practice Initiative is on healing and repairing harm, rather than violent methods of retaliation and punishment.

These efforts will help ABW and our member organizations to:

• Build stronger relationships between community members
• Empower neighborhood residents to resolve issues without police intervention
• Begin repairing systemic harm done to the community by engaging larger institutions

Purpose

To build the capacity of Whitehaven community stakeholders to advocate for peace, foster transformative relationships and implement restorative practices for youth and families
